16th April 2014 at 10 am: Opening of Destan Gashi's exhibition at National Library

The Austrian Ambassador, Dr. Johann Brieger, not only mentioned the extraordinary life of the artist Destan Gashi, but also spoke about the love between the stone and the artist and the outcome, how the stone and the artist grew together, until the end, which we all could witness at this wonderful exhibition.

20 sculptures out of marble let one escape into a world full of legends and myths. They tell us albanian stories, as for example the story of the legend of Rozafa, the one of Doruntina and about the Hasjanen and their consciousness of traditon, the proud women from the highland of Has, from the villages at the river "Weißen Drin".

Destan Gashi comes from the Republic of Kosovo. The albanian sculptor studied at the Academie de Beaux Arts in Brussels, where he also met his lovely wife. 1978 he received his diploma for painting, and 1985 his diplom for sculpting.

Since 1987 he lives in Vienna/Austria as freelance artist. He already received several awards for his sculptures. Now, for the first time ever, he shows his work in his home country.

Please come and visit this extraordinary exhibiton. Opening times are from Monday to Friday from 7 am (7h) until 8 pm (20h).  The duration of this exhibition will be from 16th April 2014 until 30th April 2014.
